Montana's chief federal judge, who was appointed by George W. Bush, Richard Cebull was accused and found guilty of sending racist emails not only to professional contacts but also to President Obama from inside his chambers.
After serving for only five years Richard Cebull defended himself, not by saying he was sorry for what he did, but by saying that he never intended for the emails to become public knowledge.
Shortly after the emails surfaced the U.S. 9th circuit Court of Appeals opened a misconduct review and found hundreds more emails that he had sent. These emails showed hate towards Obama, Black America, Indians, Hispanics, women, religious groups, liberal politicians and the LGBT community.
Some of the emails even revealed the Judges extremely bias views toward pending issues like gun control, civil rights, immigration, health care and environmental issues. A lot of these issues could have come before Judge Cebull's court, and instead of being impartial toward these matters, it is obvious that he would have made partial judgements according to his beliefs.
Fortunately, for the state of Montana and the rest of the country, once a jurist is found to be a bigot, he or she will will longer be fit to rule on the bench and if they have broken state or federal laws, will be impeached. It was no different when the 9th court looked at this case.
They instructed that Judge Cebull receive no more cases for 180 days and that he would have to repeat a new course of judicial training. The only reason impeachment was ruled out on this case is the fact that the judge was not found to have broken any state or federal laws.
So where is Judge Cebull now? After receiving his well deserved punishment he decided to resign, which probably best for all of us.
